Day 1

  • The driver will pick you up from your hotel in a comfortable vehicle
  • You change into ceremonial attire and take part in the Melukat purification and healing ceremony at the sacred springs
  • A walk through Tirta Empul Temple and a small ceremony with a local monk
  • You arrive at a coffee plantation, see how coffee and other plants are grown and processed, meet civets—the animals that produce luwak coffee—and enjoy a tasting of traditional teas and coffees
  • You have lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Tegallalang rice terraces, and those who wish can take photos on the swings
  • You arrive at Pura Besakih Temple, change into traditional attire, and go on a guided walk around the temple. Local monks will conduct a ceremony for us
  • Meditation and an audience with Mangku Jati
  • You return to your hotel

Is special clothing required to visit the temples?

No, we will provide traditional attire. At Tirta Empul, it is worn over a swimsuit, and at Pura Besakih you can wear a white top or T-shirt underneath, with the traditional outfit worn over it. Footwear can be any type

How does the conversation with the monk take place?

The conversation is private: you sit facing the monk and say your name. The monk then gives you a brief personal reading, after which you may ask three questions. The questions can be about anything—yourself, family, or friends, and on any topic. We recommend turning on a voice recorder before the session, as there will be a lot of information

Is lunch included?

Yes, lunch is included up to 200k at a cafe
