  • You begin the ascent to the volcano’s crater accompanied by experienced guides
  • Descend into the crater, admire the blue flames and the sulfur lake, and see how locals extract sulfur
  • Climb to the volcano’s highest peak, greet the sunrise, and enjoy breakfast with views of the sulfur lake
  • Descend back to the base camp and enjoy a short rest

Is it possible not to descend into the crater?

Yes, it is possible

Do I need special equipment and warm clothing?

Long pants, a sweatshirt, and comfortable sneakers will be sufficient. At the base camp, you’ll be able to rent a jacket, a hat, or trekking poles. Before the ascent, you’ll be provided with a flashlight and a respirator mask; no additional special equipment is required

How long does the ascent take?

At an average pace, it takes about 1.5 hours. The distance from the start of the route to the summit is 4 km

Will the ascent take place in case of bad weather?

Rain on Ijen usually falls in the evening. During the start of the ascent and at sunrise, conditions are clear in about 95% of cases, but we always bring raincoats just in case
